Lucky's Lounge
My field notes
Easy place to miss — a classy joint tucked away in a corner, speakeasy style, which is the whole point. Once you find your way in it's retro vintage front to back, like walking into another era, and a lot more comfortable than a hole-in-the-wall has any right to be. The bartender made the night: I went digging for Rolaids after a long day and accidentally asked him for Rolexes, and without missing a beat he offered to track down either one for me. Runs a little pricey for my blood, and I'm a gotta-have-something-to-do guy — darts, pool, horseshoes, anything — so a pure sit-and-sip room was never going to be my perfect bar. Still walked out happy. Dim, chill, run by people quicker than you. If you're in Boston and you like your bars hidden, find the door.
